More Information |
Area Information : The hotel is just a very short walk from the Leas, Folkestone’s cliff-top promenade. The Leas is great for a pleasant and relaxing stroll with sea views of the English Channel on one side and the elegant period buildings of Folkestone on the other. You could also enjoy a concert or an event at the magnificent former dance hall, The Leas Cliff Hall, or perhaps an afternoon concert at the bandstand, where brass bands, pop groups, and the Folkestone Youth Jazz Orchestra often perform. The Leas is also the site of seasonal festivals and art fairs.
All that Folkstone has to offer is within easy walking distance of the hotel, including the town’s shops, activities, sports, entertainments, restaurants and cafes.
The hotel also makes a great base for exploring the region. There are dozens of pretty villages in the unspoilt countryside surrounding the hotel, with many beautiful walks or rides as well. Another major attraction in the area is Leeds Castle, near Maidstone.
Visitors come from miles around to visit the ancient cathedral city of Canterbury. Alternatively, the fascinating Battle of Britain Museum in nearby Hawkinge may be of interest or you could take a ride across the Romney Marsh on the one-third-scale Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Light Railway.
The hotel is just 10 minutes’ drive from Folkestone’s Channel Tunnel terminal and the ferry port, making the whole of mainland Europe easily accessible from the hotel. Both Folkestone and Dover are major channel ports and day trips to the continent are extremely popular. These can be arranged directly at the hotel. The hotel also makes a convenient base for a stopover on the journey into Europe, if you are on a longer trip.
The world-famous Howletts and Port Lympne Animal Parks are close by. They are dedicated to the preservation of rare and endangered animals.
